Painting on Crochet- a New Workshop!

I am very excited that I have been asked by the Art and Fiber group of the Kuwait Textile Arts Association (KTAA) to teach a workshop at Beit Al Sadu. We will be crocheting motifs that are specially designed to fit into eWoodStory Modern Stitchable Pendants. After crocheting the motif, I will demonstrate how to do the Invisible Fasten Off (one of my favorite crochet techniques), how to block your piece, paint it, and stitch it into the pendant.

It will be so much fun to see how different each motif looks after painting! I will be doing a post about the workshop and I will be sure to take photos during it, so those of you who aren't in Kuwait, can see what we got up to!

The workshop will be held on April 6th at 10am. The cost for KTAA members is 4KD, and the cost for non-members is 5KD

Vintage Modern Crochet

I am thrilled to announce that I have two designs in Robyn Chachula's beautiful new book: Vintage Modern Crochet, to be released in May of this year. This book is a celebration of crochet lace techniques. Robyn invited a host of crochet designers to be inspired by the techniques and to interpret them in a modern way.

I have two designs in the book, one in Pineapple Lace, and one in Filet Crochet. Below is a sneak peak at my Pineapple design:

Soon, official photos will be released and I will be able to share even more about the book. Stay tuned!

The 2016 Crochetville Blog Tour!

I am thrilled to be a stop on Crochetville's annual blog tour! This year's blog tour is packed with excitement, so be sure to follow the stops every day for the entire month of March!

In honor of the tour, I am offering you a fun new free pattern for Shades and Layers Bangles. Practice upcycling while creating a unique accessory. The bangles have a cardboard base, which is actually made from the cardboard insert from a ball of yarn! A series of three bands are created and layered on the base to give the bangle some shape, and to give it dimension. A fourth band is crocheted to cover the inside of the cardboard, so that the bangle can be completely covered.

All of the layers ready to place around the cardboard ring

I used variegated yarn for my samples which I think gives a nice effect, but you could also make them in solid colors. Since there are four different bands, you could even make each one a different color. A great project for using up leftover bits of yarn!

The pattern is available as a free download from Ravelry. If you decide to make one, it would be lovely if you could post a photo to the Ravelry project page, so others can be inspired by your color combinations!
