Crochet Guild of America's 2010 Design Contest!

I am very excited that the Crochet Guild is having their design contest again this year.  I just can't resist a good contest!  This year will be the best yet as there are more categories which means more chances to win.  The prizes are quite generous with the grand prize being $1000!

I have decided on a category and the basic idea of my design.  Since they don't require a pattern, I can let the freeformer in me out!  It is so strange to make something and not take notes as I work.  Such wonderful freedom!  I have been designing and taking extensive notes for the past 6 weeks, so this will be like a vacation!  I am hoping to pass by my local yarn store this week, to buy some lovely yarn and get started.  Thank goodness the deadline is not until June 15th as I will have to work on this between other projects.

The purse pictured above is one I entered in the 2008 design contest.  It won 2nd place in the accessories category.  Accessories is always my favorite category!  I would love to make a woman's garment as that category is the most popular and it would really get me noticed in the design world, but I might have to save that idea for 2011.

The contest is open to all members of the CGOA and if you would like to read more about the contest, Doris Chan, the chairman of the contest committee has posted about it on her blog here.
