Springtime Petals Crochet Collar!

There is about a week left of National Crochet Month, and I hope you all have been crocheting to your hearts content!

I had over 900 downloads of the Petals Collar Pattern this month, and I am hoping to see lots of project photos on Ravelry!

The first project photos were posted last week, and it the collar is so pretty, I asked the maker, Mimouna, if I could share her photos with you. Thankfully she graciously agreed! She says she is a newbie crocheter, and you would never know it from her beautiful work!

I just love how the collar looks in purple, and her photo really celebrates spring!

I would really love to see more versions of the collar, so anyone who makes one, please post your photos!

Petals Collar Pattern, Now Available in US Terms!

The Petals Collar originally appeared in the Fall 2014 issue of the UK magazine, Inside Crochet. I have translated the pattern into American crochet terms, and it is now available to purchase as an individual pattern.

I originally designed this collar for children, but it was worn in the magazine by a woman as well, and it looks beautiful on her. It would look quite different, and suit different ages depending on the colors you choose.

Made in a finer yarn, it could be more of a delicate necklace. There are several versions, I would like to try. I am in hopes that some different versions will appear on Ravelry to inspire others, as well!

The pattern is now available to download on Craftsy, and on Ravelry.

The Bette Bow Collar for Interweave Crochet

Fall is approaching and it is one of my favorite times of the year for crocheting. You can start thinking about making stylish, cozy things for the cooler weather. I was really excited when Interweave announced their Fall call for submissions, specifically requesting collars. I had many ideas for collars and had been waiting for the right time to submit. I especially love this design, because it ticks so many of the boxes I have on my goals for a design list. It is simple and fun to crochet AND it is versatile and can be worn many ways. It looks very different when turned sideways or from back to front. Lindsay Jarvis, the assistant editor of Interweave Crochet did a blog post on the Crochet Me blog about the versatility of the collar.

There is also one more way you can wear the collar which is just off to the side. I really like it this way too, because I used to have a beautiful vintage sweater with this type of neckline.

Crochet one collar, and wear it turned different ways to suit your mood or the neckline of the top you are wearing it with!

It is available to download from the Interweave Store here.

Petals Collar

I am thrilled to have my Petals Collar featured in this Month's Issue of Inside Crochet, issue 56. It is a fun project that combines a few of my favorite techniques: surface crochet, slip stitch cords, and embroidery.  Inside Crochet's styling is so beautiful. I love how they illustrated that the collar could look elegant on a woman and sweet on a little girl. The power of styling! Besides being an excellent project to practice techniques, it is also a great way to use up bits of yarn you may have as it doesn't require much of any color.  I am looking forward to seeing some project photos on Ravelry to see it made up in different color combinations!
