To the old version, I added an extra row of stitches to the foundation and some embroidery embellishment. I also changed the yarn to Berroco's Ultra Alpaca Light, because it comes in many beautiful colors and is really nice to work with.
This necklace would make a great gift or a lovely addition to your own jewelry collection! The link to the download is below, under the pattern details.
This elegant necklace takes very little time or yarn. It is a versatile piece that is easily customizable. Make a wool version for winter to wear over turtlenecks, and a cotton version to wear in the summer. You can also make the blossoms multi-colored and add beads or sequins to them. The possibilities are endless! This blog post features the necklace with beaded blossoms, and here is a pattern for earrings inspired by this necklace.

ReplyDeleteShelby, my daughter-in-law told me about jewelry she saw made from bobbles or pop corns. These must be what she had in mind. She will love them and they're so easy! Have to take time out from my other six knit and crochet projects to do these. Thanks !!!!!

ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern but am having trouble with the last slst of the leaf before chaining the 14 to make the stem - I've tried it a few ways and I always end up lopsided or with a gap between the stitches... (or both) I've tried with diff yarns and hooks and still not having much success.
This is a beautiful pattern and I'm hoping to make a few of them in diff colours and with beads for my niece for Christmas.
Thanks for taking the time to make and share your creations and the written patterns with us!!
Samic :)
Hi Samic,
ReplyDeleteI am glad your making the necklace, I think it makes a nice gift:-)
You are supposed to insert the hook into the same back loop you did when you made the third sl st of the beginning 3 sl sts. It is clear where to put the hook because that st is a little stretched. If that is where you have been putting the hook and you still have a big gap, I think you might need to go down in hook size. Tighter work will look better.
I hope this helps!
Happy holidays,
Shelby
Thanks
DeleteIt does help but one of the leaves is still a little longer and makes it 'wonky' so am gonna try it with 2slst's instead of 3.
I think that when i go back and do the Slst's at the end it will even everything out.
Do you have a video tutorial somewhere?
Thanks.
Hi Samic, I am sorry you are having trouble. Unfortunately, I don't have a video tutorial. There is a close up of the leaves in another post I did about embellishing this necklace pattern, so you can see what mine look like: http://www.stitch-story.com/2010/07/new-look-for-blossom-necklace.html.
